Why waxing Ottawa?

If you have body hair that you’re uncomfortable with, waxing is a great option. It works well on both women and men of all ages. We have loads of new mens grooming products, so don’t worry. We offer Sugaring and better than Sugaring. Our special Bee wax, sticks only to the hair, making your experience nearly painless.

Waxing (Ottawa) or Shaving?

When you shave, the hair grows back thicker and darker than it did before. Additionally, hair begins to grow back above the skin almost immediately. When you wax however, the hair root is temporarily removed. This means that it takes much longer for the hair to grow back. When the hair does grow back, usually weeks later, the hair will be thinner and lighter. Eventually, it will stop growing back at all. As an added bonus, waxing also exfoliates your skin, leaving it feeling soft and silky.
Before your appointment

Use an exfoliating scrub the day before you come in for your waxing appointment. It’s also best to avoid applying any body lotion the day before. If you’re having your underarm area waxed, try to use a deodorant that does not contain an antiperspirant, as that can make it more difficult for the wax or the sugar to stick to the hair.

During your appointment

The first step in any waxing appointment is cleaning and disinfecting the area to be wax. Once clean, the esthetician will apply wax to small areas, removing the hair one section at a time. Afterward, the area will be cleansed of any Wax residue, and a cream will be applied to your skin to help prevent any irritation.

Waxing or Sugaring may be uncomfortable at first, especially if it’s your first time. At Esthetics by Gilla, we use a special wax that is designed to stick only to the hair and not your skin on any given sensitive area. Any discomfort that you feel will fade almost immediately. If you’re especially sensitive, or if you’re worried about experiencing pain, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as Advil about an hour before your appointment. If you’re still feeling daunted, you may want to consider our laser hair removal service instead.

After care

Your skin may be sensitive and a bit pink following your appointment. It would be just as normal by next morning for sure; during this time, avoid using any rough body scrubs, and avoid sun exposure right after waxing.

It is recommended to use a gentle body scrub to exfoliate the waxed area as frequently. This can help to prevent you from experiencing any bumps or ingrown hairs as the hair does begin to grow back. If you do experience any bumps, it’s very important that you don’t try to scratch or squeeze them, as this can make irritation worse, and may lead to infection.

Bikini Wax – Special ConsiderationsWaxing Ottawa

When you’re having the bikini area waxed, there are some special concerns. This area tends to be more prone to ingrown hairs, and the skin here is much more sensitive. At Esthetics by Gilla, we recommend “witch Hazel distilled water” over the counter. It’s effective and doesn’t cost much.Besides what we recommend from our line of product available on location.

All You Need To Know When You Go For Your Waxing Appointment

Almost every woman likes to keep herself well groomed and waxing is one such activity which they need to indulge in from time to time even if it is frustrating and painful.  Some of us are hairier than the others and might need to get waxed more often.

The Need For Brazilian Waxing

Not every woman opts for Brazilian waxing. It is basically removing all the hair near your pubic region from the front to back. We know that it can be really painful but this is both healthy and gives you a better intimate experience as well.

If you are wondering whether or not to go for a Brazilian wax, here are a few things which you should know.

How Long Does Hair Have To Be To Wax?

How Long Does Hair Have To Be To Wax?

There is no specific rule book as such regarding the apt hair length. No one is going to take a measuring scale and check whether or not you have ample hair to go for waxing process. But, if you feel that the hair hasn’t really grown back much, avoid the waxing session. Ideally, ½ inch long hair is good enough to be waxed.

But for those who have quite thin hair and even the ones who have had multiple waxing sessions before, you can get waxed even when the hair length is shorter. The bottom line is that the hair shouldn’t be inconspicuous during waxing. You can delay it for a week and then have the hair removed later.

How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Last?

Ideally, when you go for a Brazilian wax for the first time, it is likely to last for a period of 3 to 6 weeks. The hair growth is a genetic factor and it is something which will differ from one individual to another. So, it is hard to tell precisely as to how long will a Brazilian wax last. This is why the general consensus is between 3 to 6 weeks and when you can feel that the hair has grown back long enough, you can book another session for your waxing and have them removed again.

The Regular Arm and Leg Waxing

Not just Brazilian wax, these results conform even to your arm and leg waxing as well. Based on your genetic factor and hair growth rate, your hair is likely to resurface in a period between 3 to 6 weeks. When the hair has grown back again, we would advise booking a wax session without too much delay.

What If My Hair Grows Too Long?

Sometimes, due to unavoidable circumstances, it may so happen that your hair may grow excessively big. In such cases, we advise shaving off the area slightly and then going for a waxing session after a week. When your hair gets too long, waxing can be unbearably painful and sometimes may not even yield the right results. What If My Hair Grows Too Long?

However, we need to add that shaving and using razors isn’t a healthy practice and should be avoided as much as you can. It has been observed that regular shaving tends to make hair thicker which in turn can be painful to wax. Also, they become hard enough not to be completely removed from the skin even after waxing. So, ideally, when you feel that your hair is long enough to be waxed, you should try and book an appointment at the earliest.

The Difference Between Bikini And Brazilian Wax

A lot of people tend to get confused between a bikini wax and Brazilian wax. The hair growth needed and the time taken for the hair to grow back for both these waxing types is nearly the same.

In bikini wax, only hair from the sides of the pubic area is removed.

The central idea here is to remove all the hair which will be visible when you wear the bikini.

On the contrary, when you opt for the Brazilian wax, all the hair from the front to the back in your pubic area will be completely removed.

So, now that you know the differences and even the dynamics of the hair length and hair growth, you can wisely decide when to book your waxing appointment. Waxing may be painful but your body starts to get a hang of it after some time.

It is considered very healthy and at the same time, the smoothness of your skin adds to your confidence and will give a better glow to your skin too. Chocolate waxing is another good choice as it tends to cut off the tan and it is believed to lessen hair growth and even alleviate the pain quite significantly too.

You can discuss all these points prior to booking your waxing session. Also, take into consideration the sensitivity of your skin because some people may face severe allergies and blotches owing to waxing.
